As part of a larger manufacturing scale-up, Evergreen Solar, Inc. needed a new design for the key piece of equipment that utilizes their proprietary process to draw molten silicon into a String Ribbon™.

Using a novel analysis of current system performance and first principles,we worked with Evergreen to deliver a completely reconceived design featuring reduced cost and weight, ease of assembly, decreased vibration, and four times better velocity control.

Hundreds of copies of this design will be installed in Evergreen's production facilities in the coming years.
